The City

If you are looking for a mix of urban living and outdoor fun, Nepean is for you. Its proximity to the Greenbelt means it's filled with parks, green spaces, forested areas for lots of fresh air fun. Families love spending the day strolling the trails of Andrew Haydon Park, taking in a show at Centrepointe Theatre, or heading to the Bayshore Shopping Centre to visit over 190 stores and restaurants.

Nepean Township was established in 1792. In the 1950 and 1960s, Nepean's urban area began to expand into previously rural areas, like Centrepointe in the east and Barrhaven in the south. It was incorporated as a city on November 24, 1978, and amalgamated with the City of Ottawa in 2001.
